Today, October 11, is the first Sunday since early June without a farmers market in Palisade. The Town ran the Sunday Farmers Market from June 7 through October 4, 2026, and that weekly anchor is now done for the year. Fruit-season traffic is gone too, though the town isn't empty.
The next seven weeks of listings show where things went. Most daytime, open-air events wrap up by the end of October. Most of what replaces them starts after 5 p.m., indoors, in a cellar or tasting room. In fall 2026, Palisade swaps its daylight hours for its evening ones.
The Daylight Season Has About Two Weekends Left
The clearest example sits on the bluff. Colterris at the Overlook runs from May through October, open daily from noon to 5 p.m. That's a season built around afternoon light and the view. Its End of Season Closing Party is Sunday, October 18, from noon to 5 p.m., with food from Panini Junction and music from Geoff Crumbaugh. The winery didn't post a separate final service date, but going by the event's name and the posted May-through-October season, that Sunday is the Overlook's last afternoon of 2026.
The same Sunday, Field To Fork Farm hosts a Fall Farm Brunch from noon to 3 p.m. It requires a reservation. A week later, on October 25, Talbott Farms holds Pick 'Em & Carve 'Em from noon to 5 p.m., and Maison La Belle Vie Winery and Eatery runs Pumpkins in the Courtyard, a family fall day, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. After that, the farm-side listings in the local calendar shift to Halloween and then the holidays.
There's also an errand that fits in a fall Saturday morning. The Town's Fall Town Clean-Up Day is Saturday, October 17, in the Riverbend Park parking lot, from 8 a.m. to noon or until the dumpsters are full. The agenda that announces it doesn't list accepted materials, so check with Town Hall before loading the truck.
Where the Evenings Went
Down the hill from the Overlook, Colterris shows the change inside one business. Colterris Collections stays open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and runs "Collections After Dark" on Fridays from 5 to 8 p.m. That evening program is scheduled for October through June, almost exactly the months the Overlook is closed. The same winery closes its afternoon patio and opens a Friday-night room in the same month.
That pattern runs through the rest of the October listings on the All Things Palisade events calendar. Here are the evening events through the end of the month, by date:
| Date | Event | Venue | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wed., Oct. 14 | Corks + Chronicles book club | Mafia Princess Wines | 6–7:30 p.m. |
| Thu., Oct. 15 | P.L.A.Y. Benefit Concert | Restoration Vineyards | Doors 5 p.m., show 6–8 p.m. |
| Fri., Oct. 16 | Between the Barrels cellar dinner with Bonfire Oyster Co. | The Blue Beryl Winery | 5:30–8:30 p.m. |
| Fri., Oct. 16 | Fall Cork Pumpkin Workshop with Ciao Baby Pizza | Sauvage Spectrum | 6–8 p.m. |
| Wed., Oct. 21 | Chamber Business After Hours | Whitewater Hill Vineyards | 5:30–7 p.m. |
| Fri., Oct. 23 | Science Uncorked: Preventing Dementia | Whitewater Hill Vineyards | 6–8 p.m. |
| Fri.–Sat., Oct. 23–24 | Winery Comedy Tour | Sauvage Spectrum | 7–8:30 p.m. |
| Sat., Oct. 24 | Corks & Forks Wine-toberfest with Chef Matt Tezak | Colterris Collections | 6–9 p.m. |
| Sat., Oct. 24 | Chili Cook-Off | Talon Wines at the Meadery | 5:30–7:30 p.m. |
| Tue., Oct. 27 | Book release party for Sarah J. Maas's new novel | The Ordinary Fellow | 6–9 p.m. |
| Fri., Oct. 30 | Cellar Dinner with Chef Zachary Marc | The Blue Beryl Winery | 5:30–8:30 p.m. |
Many of these need tickets or reservations, including both Blue Beryl dinners, the Colterris pairing dinner, the Talon cook-off and the Sauvage Spectrum comedy nights. In summer you could just show up at a stand. In fall, more of the calendar needs a booking a few days ahead.
The table also shows a range of events beyond pours and pairings. Wineries are hosting a science talk, a book club, a benefit concert and a Chamber networking hour. Carboy Winery at Mt. Garfield Estate adds a Fall/Winter Community Clothing Swap on October 16 from 2 to 7 p.m. Once fruit season ends, tasting rooms fill in as the town's indoor meeting places.
A New Taproom on 36 Road
One opening this fall fits the same evening pattern. WesternSlopeNow reported that New Terrain Brewing would open a Palisade taproom at 691 36 Road on Saturday, October 3, 2026, with a grand opening running from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The brewery's own announcement promised 14 beers on tap, live music and food trucks for opening day. Both sources announced the opening ahead of time. Neither reported on the day itself, so check current hours with the brewery before a first visit. Even so, a 10 p.m. close on day one points toward the later hours the rest of the calendar is moving to.
Halloween Gets Two Days
Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, and Palisade spreads it over Friday and Saturday. Friday follows the daylight-to-dark arc in one afternoon. Saturday is all evening.
Friday, October 30
- The Milky Way's Pumpkin Decorating Contest runs 3 to 6 p.m. Drop off your pumpkin between October 28 and noon on October 30.
- Trick-Or-Treat Street and Touch a Truck fills downtown Palisade from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., with a pet parade at 5 p.m.
- Escape the Museum! runs at Colterris Collections from 5 to 8 p.m.
Saturday, October 31
- Palisade Brewing Company's Halloween Bash, with costume contests, prizes, a concert and free snacks, runs 7 to 10 p.m.
- Peach Street Distillers' Halloween Hootenanny, with music by Box of Chocolates and a pumpkin carving contest, runs 6 p.m. to midnight. Pumpkins for the contest are dropped off Friday.
- Restoration Vineyards' A Night of Mystery Halloween Party runs 6 to 9 p.m. and requires a ticket or reservation.
The Farm Stand Turns Into a Christmas Market
After Halloween, the calendar thins out, but it doesn't stop. Kokopelli Farm Market moves to fall hours through October and reopens as a Christmas Market from November 13 through December 20, closed Thanksgiving Day. Its website lists two different sets of fall hours, so check Kokopelli's site or call before you drive over.
The rest of November is short:
- Wednesday, November 11. The Palisade Veterans Fair runs 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park.
- Wednesday, November 25. Mafia Princess Wines holds its Colorado Nuovo release from 2 to 6 p.m., the night before Thanksgiving.
- Sunday, November 29. Carboy Winery at Mt. Garfield Estate hosts its Holiday Craft Fair from noon to 6 p.m.
The next big downtown date is the Palisade Chamber of Commerce's Olde Fashioned Christmas, set for December 4 and 5. If you make something to sell, the Winter Faire vendor application deadline is November 7, 2026, which comes before nearly every November event above.
The Roundabout Works the Hours Before Dinner
The US 6 construction from summer is still running this fall. CDOT's US 6 Palisade Intersection Improvements project covers US 6 from Rupp Avenue to Iowa Avenue. It includes the concrete roundabout at Elberta Avenue, a reconfigured Iowa Avenue intersection, new sidewalks, and frontage roads changed to one-way. The contractor is KSK LLC, and construction costs $7.1 million.
The project page gives two end dates. The summary box says "January 2026 to October 2026," and the detailed schedule says work is expected to be completed late 2026. The detailed schedule puts a "September to Late Fall" phase on the calendar right now. That phase covers concrete tying Elberta Avenue into US 6 and business driveways, final asphalt paving, striping and signage, and pedestrian crossings. CDOT's photo gallery has an August 2026 shot labeled the final roundabout concrete pour. That marks the main structure as poured, not the project as finished.
Crews work Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. So the Friday cellar dinners at Blue Beryl, which start at 5:30 p.m., begin while the work zone may still be active. The weekend events above fall outside the posted crew hours. CDOT's project page lists these traffic impacts:
- Rupp Avenue is closed in both directions at US 6. Drivers leaving Rupp detour south to Fairhaven Drive and then to Montclair Avenue or Shiraz Avenue.
- Elberta Avenue south of US 6 is closed at the South Frontage Road, also called G Road. Use Vineyard Avenue, Logan Court or Iowa Avenue instead.
- The South Frontage Road is closed at Elberta. Eastbound traffic headed to homes between Vineyard and Iowa, or to Terra Vin Cellars, uses the slip ramp just east of the roundabout.
- The West 8th Street frontage road between Elberta Avenue and 37 1/10 Road is open only to local property owners. Business access stays open.
- People on foot crossing US 6 should use the marked crosswalks at Rupp Avenue or just east of Iowa Avenue.
These closures change as the final phase moves along, so check COtrip's live construction map on the day you drive. CDOT's schedule has the striping and pedestrian crossings landing around the same weeks the Christmas Market opens and the Winter Faire application window closes.
If you own orchard ground, pasture or a home near the wineries and want to talk through how that land works in the quiet months as well as at harvest, Sorrel Properties is happy to walk it with you. Let's Connect.
